"Give Play" Financial Aid to Be Awarded

Public schools on Wake County's traditional calendar will be ending this week, heralding the beginning of summer camp season in Raleigh!  The City of Oaks Foundation will be providing almost $20,000 in financial aid to under-resourced families to help their children get outside this summer and build connections to nature in active, outdoor summer camps.

In partnership with the City of Raleigh's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department, the City of Oaks Foundation will make summer camp experiences available to over sixty local youth who have shown a demonstrated needs where family finances and transportation are a barrier to their participation.

While still collecting funding for additional scholarships, the Foundation is grateful for the support of many wonderful community sponsors who have helped to make this program possible, including the Carolina Hurricanes Kids n' Community Foundation, the Duke Energy Foundation, and over 100 private donors, many of whom connected to the Foundation through the IndyWeek's 2016 Give!Guide campaign.
