What began as an Olympic-style event promoting athletics, health, and competition has grown to become one of the largest Senior Games events in the State of North Carolina, even expanding to include the Silver Arts- performing and visual arts events. More than 30 individual and team sporting events are offered, including tennis, golf, bowling, basketball, swimming, cornhole, pickleball, cycling, and track and field, as well as competition in visual, literary, heritage, and performing arts. All events take place in and around Wake County.

The Wake County Senior Games rely on volunteers and the generosity of sponsors. All events are funded through corporate sponsorship, private donations, and participant entry fees, in collaboration with local parks and recreation agencies along with the North Carolina Senior Games, Inc. and the North Carolina Division of Aging. City of Oaks Foundation is proud to provide fiscal and business support services for the games.
