After a rainy summer it's time to restore the forest trails at Joslin Garden!
We are seeking volunteers to help us repair the mulch and wood chip trails that wind through the forested acres of Joslin Garden. The Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department is organizing two volunteer days and seeking interested individuals/small groups to assist with mulching and clearing trails at the garden on Saturday, September 30 from 9am-12pm or Saturday, October 7 from 9am-12pm.
Staff will provide volunteers with gloves, tools, mulch material, water/snacks, and a volunteer kit that includes bug spray, sunscreen and first aid. All volunteers should wear sturdy, closed toed shoes and loose, comfortable clothing they do not mind to get dirty. These projects will occur rain or shine. If inclement weather does occur, the event coordinator will notify you of cancellation via email.
To volunteer, you must be at least 18 years old. All volunteers will need to complete a volunteer release form. The release form will be sent to all registered volunteers prior to each work day. Anyone younger than 18 who is interested in volunteering (scouts, high school students, etc.) must contact the Foundation first, for special permission and and will need a signed parental consent form before they can sign up on-line. Depending upon the work that day, some projects may not be safe for youth.
