Urban Agriculture Grant Winners Announced
at 2016 Raleigh Environmental Awards Program

The City of Oaks Foundation was honored to present Urban Agriculture Awards to seven local grant recipients as part of the 2016 Raleigh Environmental Awards Program. The event, hosted by the City of Raleigh’s Office of Sustainability and the Raleigh Environmental Advisory Board was held April 21, 2016 at the Glenwood Club in Raleigh.

 

The Foundation will promote the work of each of these organizations as examples of innovative local projects in our community to teach and inspire others to get involved in the community garden and urban agriculture movement. Each grant recipient presented a proposal for a project to be completed this year.

Raleigh Environmental Awards to be Presented this Week

The annual Raleigh Environmental Awards Program recognizes individuals and organizations that are good stewards of the environment in our community.

The Environmental Awards Celebration will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Please join us for this free, public event from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Glenwood Club, 3300 Woman’s Club Drive, Raleigh 27612 to celebrate the accomplishments of local environmental advocates. The 2016 keynote speaker is Jennifer Zuckerman, Healthy Living Senior Program Officer of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation.

The City of Oaks Foundation will present awards for innovative projects in Urban Agriculture, and will make mini-grants of $500 to $1,500 to the winners. Grant recipients will report back this fall with the results of their work.

The City of Raleigh Environmental Awards program, in partnership with the City of Oaks Foundation, is made possible through the generous donations from local businesses that share the vision of environmental stewardship for the Raleigh community. These donations, both monetary and in-kind, make it possible to offer this event at no cost to attendees.
